This is an Argentine movie that some of you have been recommending. By pure coincidence I watched it too just a few days ago and while not Oscar material (67% at Rotten Tomatoes), I did enjoy it a good bit.
Its about a couple caught during the spread of a pandemic in downtown Buenos Aires, how they react to it, and such, with a bit of dark humor thrown here and there. I suppose lots of its sarcasm is lost in translation, but for a native Argentine Spanish speaker it does have its moments.
It´s interesting how in the begging of the movie it shows a bit of looting and people running around the supermarket where the main characters are at, yet they don’t seem to care much about it. That’s a clear nod to the sadly often seen scene, showing how you can become indifferent and react with apathy to situations that should otherwise stress you to some degree. The couple though, just goes on as if nothing happens.
See if you can catch it on Netflix. Don’t expect a great movie, but something ok to watch while eating popcorn and watching something different within the survival genre.

Glad you did like the movie :)

Watching the movie did challenge my poor spanish a lot, but I belive an english version exists.

I too found the characters funny and quite realistic in their "denial". Later on when the situation lasted for many days and hunger became an issue for the unprepared, they did what I believe many will do – prey on those (they suspect) weakest to help themselfs.

What got me the most was how the pregnant woman reacted. Complete denial, with hands on her whomb and focused 110% on the baby. I got 3 kids and from my experience thats exactly how my wife (if pregnant) would act too. Including the hysteric moments of locking herself in, to avoid the reality. I realy liked that.

Recommended view.

PS: FerFal I did hear it is possible to get quite a few bargain right now in B.A. if you pay with U$/Eur in cash – do you know anything about it?

Re the previous post on urban apartment living, Charlton Heston had a few
ideas in his 1971 movie "The Omega Man":

PS I liked Charlton's tactical solution to a night attack by a catapult
tossing incendaries:

I did manage to watch a couple of previews and the dialogue seems fine, it´s got that ultra acid ironic Spanish the people from BA excell at. I will look for it at the video rental shop. seems like a good movie and entertaining. Just wait and see some Hollywood recycler re do it like they did with the Spanish movie "Rec".

Ok watched the movie finally. It was tough to get used to the translation reading at first. However, the plot was so bizarre I found myself transfixed like watching a car wreck. Overall, it was worth the watch.

What a massive supply of preps that guy had! That has to be almost as much as Ferfal has.
